Team RAC Dunlop MSA British Touring Car drivers Colin Turkington and Rob Collard swapped their driving boots for running shoes as they supported the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at Croft Motor Racing Circuit today.

Colin and Rob were joined on the start/finish line by members of Team RAC and supporters to run the 1.1 mile circuit in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Originally involved with the launch of Belfast’s Sport Relief 2006 Campaign, Colin was keen to complete his mile and receive his second red sock. The distinctive Sport Relief Red Sock is central to the experience and each ‘Miler’ takes part wearing one red sock, and at the finish line they will be presented with a second to make a pair.

In the closing stages it became a three-way race between Rob, Colin and Team RAC data engineer JP Loof. It was Colin who proved to be the stronger finisher taking the chequered flag just ahead of JP and Rob.

Upon completing the mile Colin said: "It was great to be involved with the original launch with BBC’s John Inverdale and I’m pleased that Croft gave us the opportunity to complete the mile. Rob (Collard) and I both started from pole position but I just got the better of him on the closing stages. It seems we’re competitive on circuit whatever we’re doing! We had some good support and I hope we manage to raise some money for a worthy cause."
